She goes by Aminyan and hails from Detroit. Now I don't want to put her down before she starts, especially as a foreigner trying to break in, but her talent is a joke. Both dance and vocal and now on another forum, she was said to potentially be the next Crystal Kay. That was simply insulting, but what do you all think of her?

2 things: 1) A black female idol in japan? No way. Idols are like the biggest Jpop representative for a huge audience of teens to middle-aged men/women...pale skin and Japanese-ness is really important in this category in my opinion. Look, even Western old boybands/girlsbands only had ONE token black guy or black girl to say "we're not racists" (lol)
EXILE is the exception to the rule, their members are old (from 19 to 45 yearso old) and they are known for their tough image. Not the "Japanese pretty boys".
2) She can try to become a singer in a group (because she'll struggle solo) after training for a while. Being non Japanese, she'll have to work some creativity on her own in order to bring positive attention on her...yeah, Japan does the kawaii stuff way better than her because it's theirs. So she might as well change for another genre or subgenre in pop music.

Oooh~ Her singing is so cringeworthy. I agree with Damon, she'd definitely need some training before debuting. & she'd have better success in a group. Idols aren't known for their impressive talent so she'd fit right in something like AKB48 who had blatantly admitted that you don't need talent to be successful lolzlolz.

She's not horrible, but she definitely needs quite a bit of training. Her performance was rigid and perhaps the music she chose/likes doesn't really flatter her voice? The "cuteness" is too forced.
Her being the next CK? I just don't think they're comparable. The only thing that's similar is that they've got foreign blood and can speak Japanese. Everything else - from her dress to her music style - is nothing like CK.
She's got potential for Japanese street fashion though!

She just can't sing. And I agree with the forced cuteness. If that's her fashion sense, that's fine, but the way she speaks and acts seems awkward. I think she models for some store or brand... She should stick to it because I don't see her becoming a successful idol.

She seems like every other youtuber whose trying to "establish" themselves musically when they have no talent. And that wig is just tragic tbh.

So she might as well change for another genre or subgenre in pop music. What I meant is that she should find her own twist to the kawaii thing instead of "copying"...like Jero did with Enka, he had this hip hop fashion style and choreography which made him quite popular in Japan. She either does something like this or go for a classic style like Crystal Kay. I don't think that her lack of talent will hinder her, working hard and improving her stage presence will get her somewhere anyway...there are plenty of examples, in Japan and elsewhere, of non talented singers. What makes them popular is the charisma, looks, concept and music, sometimes the lyrics for those who are songwriters.
